Home Pregnancy Tests – Are They Reliable?

When a woman thinks she may be pregnant her usual first thing to do is buy and use a home test to confirm or deny it. Some go straight to the doctor, but most prefer a private testing first. Home pregnancy tests look for the pregnancy hormone hCG which is present in the urine. It can detect it as early as one week after a missed period and is reliable at that time. A test can be done before that, but as the level of hCG is lower, it may not detect it in the urine giving you a false negative.
