Stretch marks during pregnancy? Try these remedies.
Quite often you will find that stretch marks during pregnancy run in the family so if your mother got them your odds are high too when you are pregnant. However even with those odds there are still things that can be done during and after the pregnancy to avoid them or lessen them. If you talk to your doctor he or she will say that there is nothing that can be done to prevent them, and advertisements selling stretch mark creams claim they can be stopped or cleared up totally. In fact the truth is somewhere in the middle of that.
It is true stretch marks cannot be completely and totally cleared up but they can be made to look less severe if you keep your skin well moisturized. There are creams that you can buy that are made just for stretch marks and you do not have to spend a lot of money to get a cream that will help reduce the unsightliness of the scarring. However before you use any creams when pregnant talk to your doctor first to ensure there are not chemicals in the cream that the doctor advises against using. You do not want to harm your baby. Once you have a lotion that can be used, use it anywhere on your body that is likely to be affected by stretch marks i.e tummy, thighs, breasts, buttocks.
Remember to wear a good bra in the late stages of pregnancy and after you deliver when you are breastfeeding. This will help minimize stretch marks around the bra straps.
Scratching your skin too much is also bad for your skin and can cause stretch marks to develop. Although it feels good on that stretching skin you need to moisturize if it gets too much to relive the itchiness rather than scratch at it.
You can also rub cocoa butter on the stomach or creams that have vitamin E in them as this is very good for the skin and will help prevent and control stretch marks during pregnancy.
