Pregnancy test – How soon to take it?

Although women are very anxious generally, when it comes to find out if they are pregnant or not their impatience overcomes our fantasy’s limits, no matter if a baby is desirable or not. As we all know, the best way to find out the answer is the pregnancy test. Now, there are 2 types of pregnancy test: blood and urine tests.

Blood and urine tests both work in the same way: they detect the presence and lower-levels of hCG, the abbreviation of human chorionic gonadotropin, in a woman’s body. This is known as the pregnancy hormone too because it appears in a woman’s body only when she is pregnant. The most important difference between those tests for most women is the moment you can take them and have a correct result.

Blood tests are those pregnancy tests which you take in the clinic. This type of pregnancy test can get you a correct result earlier than a urine one can, because the hCG firstly appears in blood and then in urine. But, this type of test has its disadvantages and therefore most women prefer the other type of test. First and the most important disadvantage of those tests is their price. They are pretty expensive, especially if your first result is a negative one and you must to take other and other test.

The other type of pregnancy tests are those based on urine. Those tests are called home pregnancy tests and they are chosen by most women thanks to their advantages: are cheaper than the others, you don’t have to get out and go on a clinic, and it allow you to have your own intimacy. Both give correct results, but at different times.

The doctors recommend to take a home pregnancy test 2 weeks after ovulation and you will get a correct answer. But there are many women too who get a correct result by taking the test starting from 7 days after ovulation. The explanation is pretty simple: hCG is produced by placenta after at least 6 days after ovulation and that because it can’t be produced until the implantation, and this does not occur before 6-12 days after ovulation.

As a conclusion, the earliest moment you can take a pregnancy test and get an accurate result is at least in the seventh day after ovulation. However, if you take the test earlier than doctors recommend and you get a negative result you should retest in the next few days, because every woman has a different organism and the hCG could appear later.
