Pregnancy test faint line

Clinic tests are quite uncomfortable because of their lack of intimacy and that’s the first reason why most women prefer home pregnancy tests. A second one could be their price, home tests being visibly cheaper – but as important could be the easiness of using it or the possibility of taking it at any time of the day. So this type of tests are chosen by most women due to their advantages, but sometimes some surprises can appear and women can become pretty frustrated because of them.

Home pregnancy tests are very easy to use and very easy to read, but sometimes some pale marks or faint lines can appear in the results window, and most women worry because they don’t know how to interpret them. As you probably know, a single line in the results window means you are not pregnant and two lines means that you are pregnant. But what if the second line from the results window is a faint one? What would you think? Are you pregnant?

This situation is a very frequent one, but you don’t have to stress out, because there could be many possible reasons and most of them can be avoided. The most common reason is the moment of taking the test. If you are taking it very early it’s very possible not to have enough hCG in your body to be detected and your test is very likely to give you a faint line in the results window. To get an accurate result(and a very strong line), it’s recommended to take the test 2 weeks after ovulation or the day you have missed your period.

If you want to avoid such a result (a faint line) you should take a more sensitive test because it can detect a smaller amount of hCG. For example, if you have an amount of 50 MIU hCG in your body, a very sensitive test which can detect a level of 20 MIU will surely show you a very strong line, but, a less sensitive one which can detect only a level of 50 MIU will show you a very faint line.

There are still many other reasons(which can be avoided) for that happening, so if you are sure you are not in any of the previous situations you still don’t have to worry. One of those reasons could be urine dilution – which can occur if you drink too much liquid before taking the test or because of frequent urination. Therefore it’s recommended to take the test with your first morning urine, because it has the biggest amount of hCG and your test will surely detect it if it’s there(so it won’t give you a faint line). Another such reason could be the moment you read the test. It’s very important to read it within the time frame, because otherwise the urine can evaporate and all you will get will be an “evaporation line”(faint one).

As you can see, there are many possible reasons for getting a faint pregnancy test line, so you don’t have to worry because if you are careful you can avoid most of them. However, if you are still unsure of your test’s result, you should see a doctor and take a blood pregnancy test – which is more accurate.
