Fortunately, nowadays you don’t have to wait for your period or for a pregnancy sign to find out if you are pregnant or not. Neither go to a clinic to find out, and that’s due to the invention of home pregnancy tests. Most women feel uncomfortable to go on a clinic for taking a test, therefore they choose to take a pregnancy test at home, this giving them the possibility to find out the truth in the privacy of their own home. Also, a home pregnancy test is even cheaper than a clinic one, which adds to the reasons of choosing it.
Home pregnancy tests are working by a simple principle: the detection of hCG in a woman’s body, more exactly in her urine. This hormone, technically called human chorionic gonadotropin, can be found in a woman’s body only if she is pregnant or if she takes some medication which contains this type of hormone. It is produced by the placenta after a fertilized egg implants in the uterine lining, implantation which does not occur until 6 days after ovulation. So, even if you are pregnant, it’s almost impossible to have a hCG in your body in those 6 days, so it’s useless to take a pregnancy test in that period because it wouldn’t detect any hCG and would surely give you a negative result – and is possible to be a false one.
If you don’t want to go on a clinic, you now have the possibility to find out about your possible pregnancy, and you don’t have to worry because taking a pregnancy test at home has proven to be very easy. They have so detailed instructions that are very easy to disentangle; however, it is so easy to take them that you wouldn’t need any instruction: all you have to do is hold the test stick under your stream urine for 5 seconds and then wait for 2-3 minutes and your test result will show in the results window, result which is also very easy to read: one line – not pregnant, two lines – pregnant.
Home pregnancy tests are very accurate , most of them having an accuracy of over 99%, but for getting such an accurate result you should take the test at the proper time. Which is the proper time? Well, doctors recommend to take it 2 weeks after ovulation, that means 2 weeks after the moment you think you have conceived, or the day you have missed your period, that if your period’s missing. But, you can also get an accurate result earlier than two weeks, the earliest possible moment being 7 days after ovulation.
Home tests have different levels of sensitivity and if you want to take a pregnancy test very early you should consider its sensitivity and take a more sensitive one, because it can detect a smaller amount of hCG earlier than the others, giving you a more accurate result.
As you can see, taking a pregnancy test at home is fairly easy, having a very high level of accuracy, so nowadays you don’t have to go to a clinic every time you suppose you are pregnant, spending so much money on the clinic tests.
