Pregnancy Aches and Pains
Being pregnant is an amazing experience and one that is a precious part of being a woman. But with come a lot of aches and pains some mental and a lot physical! This article is about these aches and pains, how to face them and deal with them.
• One problem that may sound pretty minor is belly button tenderness. This is caused by the expansion of the uterus and gets more painful around the 20th week of the pregnancy.
• During pregnancy women often have an increased secretion of leukorrhea (a clear/white odorless vaginal discharge). It is normal for vaginal secretions to increase when pregnant and it is not something to worry over unless the color changes and is yellowy green and or has an odor that becomes foul. If you should have any pain or soreness in the vaginal area seek advice from your doctor straight away.
• There are a lot of hormonal changes going on in a pregnant woman’s body and this can cause the palms of her hands and the soles of her feet to take on a reddish color. It is called Palmer erythyma and after the baby arrives the condition goes away by itself.
• Skin tags are another common problem. This is where skin rubs against cloth or other skin so in the folds of the neck, the bra line and so on.
• Some women experience tiny non-cancerous tumor growths in their gums called Phylogenic granulomas. It is a harmless condition and the tumors will go after birth.
• Carpel tunnel syndrome is another common problem and this one sometimes does not rectify itself. It is when there is a pinched nerve in the wrist, and if it does go by itself surgery is sometimes needed. One way to deal with this problem is elevating the hand when possible and at night putting on a plastic splint.
• Hip soreness can occur because the ligaments in your hips get stretched and the cartilage gets softer due to the hormone changes taking place. Though there is actually no treatment for this problem, adjusting your sleeping position often when in bed can help alleviate it somewhat.
