It can be a very frustrating chore to lose that extra weight you gained during pregnancy after giving birth. All your time and energy is focused on that beautiful baby and you have little time or desire to make low calorie meals that are nutritious as well as healthy snacks. Also many women feel that their body has changed a lot and it is like that weight just won’t drop off.
It is true that your body has changed after having a baby, it’s a big deal carrying that child and then pushing it put! You will need to change how you eat now and what you eat. Fad diets, calorie watching, low carbs are all methods that are unlikely to work and what is more if you are breast feeding, these diets are not good for your baby.
This does not mean that you will not ever lose the weight it just means you need to relearn about what your body is like now, and how to get your metabolism working harder so that it has to burn off the fat to use as fuel. Here are some tips to get you started.
1 – First of all use some common sense. Eat healthy foods like vegetables and fruits and cut out at least some of those deserts! You will have more energy that will enable you to deal with the stress and trials of looking after a new baby.
2 – There are ‘right’ foods and ‘wrong’ foods in terms of your metabolism. Look for foods that speed up your metabolism and eat less of the ones that slow it down.
3 – How you combine foods is important. Learn what amounts of fat, protein, carbohydrates and vegetables there should be in each meal and snack so that you feel full but your cravings are reduced and your metabolism is burning the fat.
4 – Eat smaller meals but more often and snack healthily in between. You do not have to starve yourself when you are dieting. Eating more meals if you eat the right type of food will actually help you lose more weight.
It does take some effort to lose that extra weight but it will be well worth it when you can get into those jeans yo sued to wear before the pregnancy! Plus you will have more energy and vitality which will make looking after a baby a lot easier.
4. Eat lost of meals and snacks. Who says dieting has to mean starving yourself? Actually eating lots of meals and snacks (the right kinds of course) will help you lose more weight.
Losing weight after pregnancy does take a bit of work, but think about how great it will feel to slip into those pre-pregnancy jeans and have more energy and vitality to boot! Once you know the right foods to eat and the ways to combine them, it makes weight loss much easier and quicker too!
