A pregnancy can be the biggest problem for some women and for others the biggest wish, but for all of them it’s very important. A missed period or even a late one is always a reason to worry for most women, therefore the first thing they think of is “how to test for pregnancy?”.

Fortunately, nowadays you don’t have to wait for other pregnancy signs to find out the truth, having two other possibilities which are even more accurate: clinic pregnancy tests (based on blood) and home ones (based on urine). Considering the statistics, most women prefer to take a home test because it allows them to find out if they are pregnant or not in the privacy of their own homes, but also because it is cheaper than a clinic one. Home pregnancy tests also have some very important features: accuracy of over 99% (most of them), they’re easy to use, they’re easy to read etc.

When you decide to test for a pregnancy using a home test you should know which is a proper time to take it(meaning the moment you can get an accurate result). If you want to be sure that your result is the most accurate one you should follow the doctors’ recommendation and take it 2 weeks after ovulation (or the moment you think you have conceived); otherwise, follow the test’s directions and take it the day you have missed your period.

If you are too anxious and you can’t wait so long for your result, you can take it earlier, having the possibility to get an accurate result – but not earlier than 6 days after ovulation, because you will surely get a negative result(which could mean a false one). So the earliest moment you can take a home test and have real chances to detect a possible pregnancy is the 7′th day after ovulation; after that, the later you take it, the more accurate result you get.

How to test for pregnancy using a home test? As we’ve already said, it’s very easy, most of those tests having the same using instructions: hold the test stick under your urine stream for 5 seconds, then wait 2-3 minutes and the result will show up. Reading its result is also very easy: look in the results window (after the indicated period of waiting) and if you see a single line – you are not pregnant; if a second line appears, though – you are pregnant.

As you can see, the answer for “how to test for pregnancy” is very simple – just take a home pregnancy test and follow its instructions and the doctors’ recommendation regarding the moment to take it. But if you want to take it earlier than it’s recommended, you should take a more sensitive one because it can give you a more accurate result earlier than the others.
