Combating Pregnancy Problems

Pregnancy really is the start of a new life for a woman, it changes everything, and the journey that ends with a baby in your arms is certainly not always an easy one. Some women have a healthy pregnancy that they move through with ease but others are not so lucky. There are several problems pregnant women can experience that can make those months of pregnancy pretty hard to cope with. This article covers some of those and gives some tips on how to take care of the main one yourself to make things a little easier.

The difficult things women have to deal with include heartburn, morning sickness (that can occur anytime of the day), leg cramps, anemia, hand and feet swelling and backache. These problems are not harmful for your baby as long as you are eating a healthy diet, but they can make pregnancy extremely uncomfortable, as a woman who experienced nearly all of them together for my son, I know! Talk with your doctor rather than self medicating to ensure you and the child are kept safe if the problems become severe.

Morning sickness in particular can be miserable to deal with. Nearly half of pregnant women have to face this problem usually in the first trimester of a pregnancy, but some are unlucky enough to have it carry through to the second. It can happen morning, afternoon, evening night time and can range from nausea to vomiting. It is harmless, but if it means you are not keeping down food which is needed to keep you and the baby healthy then it needs to be dealt with.

There are a few things you can do to try and cope with this issue. Eating some dry crackers before getting out of bed in the morning, eat more often but smaller meals so that your tummy is not ever empty, avoid foods that make the nausea worse both smelling and eating, avoid spicy or rich or fried foods, acupressure or bands for motion sickness may help, drink plenty of fluids particularly if you are actually vomiting. If water doesn’t do the job try fruit juice, crushed ice or ice pops.
